Last February 2007, the University of the Philippines had their “know your school day” celebration. This activity is in honor of our dear faculty members. It is in this celebration that the students are asked to apply for the positions of the faculty and the staff and for them to experience these things for the a week. Students are asked to apply for one or two positions.
They are asked to have a class demonstration during their assigned period.
Ever since first year, I never tried and I did not even mind to participate in this school activity. Why? Because I know for the fact that being a teacher is really hard. You must be able to prepare your lessons well. I could not even prepare myself for my classes how much more than teaching my fellow classmates. It is just that I really hate responsibilities for now. And I think I really have to improve myself when it comes to discipline.
Being taught by a classmate is very unusual and I am really not used to it except in Math!(haha!). But honestly, I feel very much comfortable when it is my fellow classmate that will teach me when it comes to subject matters. Maybe because there is no teacher-student factor.
I do not feel very pressured and stressed out when a classmate teaches me. Instead, I feel very happy and very eager to learn. Maybe because I do not feel so much fear when a classmate is the teacher because I know he or she can understand what it is to be a student.
